The theme of the 8th Conference will be: “At the cross point of eGovernment & eDemocracy: How ICT in the parliamentarian environment is setting standards in participation and usage”. This archway, starting from the state-of-the-art towards leading examples will be reflected by the presentations held. At the end of the day a round table discussion will multiplex all information gathered during the day and will highlight them in terms of how ICT in the parliamentary world is setting standards in participation and usage in the field of eGovernment &eDemocracy. This workshop comes out of the participation of our members at the ministerial eGovernment conference in Manchester 2005, from which our conclusions were appreciated and taken on board by the European Commission in preparation of their eGovernment Action Plan. It is hoped that the conclusions from this meeting will similarly have an impact at EU decision-making level. The specific content is prepared in collaboration with the participants. During the workshop which will take place in the Austrian Parliament in spring 2006, a main objective will be to develop a common parliamentary perspective on "dialogue and reconnection with citizen on domestic and European matters". The Eastern European e|Gov Days - now already in its third year - has become a key platform in making technology transfer successful between the Eastern European countries and Western Europe. The event has been organised by the e|Government Forum of the Austrian Computer Society and other partners, and will take place in Prague. ECEG 2006, 6th European Conference on eGovernment ECEG offers a valuable opportunity to share ideas and experiences with others working and researching in the field of eGovernment. The conference targets academics, practitioners as well as policy-makers. eGovernment, eVoting, eDemocracy and ePolitics are relevant at local, national and European levels of government. They are an integral part of the drive to radically transform the delivery of public services and increase the effectiveness of government through the adoption of advanced information and communications technology (ICT). As the conference organisers put it: “eGovernment is clearly not only about technology – it is about reinventing the way in which public sector service providers and citizens interact….” IST Africa Conference The IST-Africa conference 2006 takes place at the CSIR International Convention Centre Pretoria, South Africa as part of the IST-Africa Initiative, which is supported by the European Commission under the IST Programme of FP6.
