EPRI knowledge base
At http://www.epri.org/epriweb/contents/knowledge_base.php the newly developed EPRI knowledge base will inform members of the EPRI community on ICT and its implementation and use in a democratic and parliamentary workflow. The EPRI knowledge base combines individual with organisational knowledge in the field of Parliamentarians and Information Communication Technology.

The new tool allows displaying knowledge not only as a conventional sequel of information but it uses a new associative and holistic approach of giving information and putting it into its context. Members of the EPRI community are invited to participate in the textual enlargement of the knowledge base by contributing with their individual knowledge and experiences. So please take a look at the EPRI knowledge base and contribute to its further development.

Results of the Ministerial eGovernment Conference 2005
The Ministerial eGovernment Conference has resulted in a strong impetus to bring forward the European eGovernment agenda towards 2010. The Ministerial eGovernment Conference took place on 24-25 November in Manchester and was co–organised by the UK Presidency and the European Commission. The Conference facilitated discussion on the ambitious goals for eGovernment in the context of the European Commission’s i2010 Initiative. Also representatives of the EPRI Community participated in this event and took the opportunity to formulate a position paper and thus to influence the eGovernment agenda. The position paper is available at http://www.epri.org/epriweb/8th_EPRI_conference/Downloads.php. The results of the whole Ministerial Conference are available at http://www.egov2005conference.gov.uk/ .

Trust in the Net
The seminar will bring together high-level actors from industry, research, governments, public administrations and user organisations to discuss longer-term research actions to fight malware and spam and thus to improve trust in the Internet for business and citizens. The seminar will produce recommendations on:
  • Research priorities in the seventh framework programme as part of   the  “Strategy for a Secure Information Society” announced in i2010;
  • Testbeds and validation actions that can advance trust in the Internet;
  • Types of partnership to be pursued and promoted in order to ensure the effectiveness of such actions as well as maximize the impact of the future research.
Information about this event is available at http://europa.eu.int/idabc/en/document/5121/251 .

eGovernment for all Europeans
The conference will explore key issues relating to the development and deployment of sustainable and user-centred pan-European eServices. The main goal of the event is to gain commitment to a set of joint actions around the issues of eGovernment today: far from being purely technical, many of the open issues concern important legal, political and organisational factors that need to be addressed urgently if eGovernment Services are to become fully enabled. Further information are available at http://europa.eu.int/idabc/en/document/5122/251 .

UK/US Elections - Lessons to be learnt?
Experts from the fields of politics, regulation, campaigning, communications, public opinion and the media will discuss some of the wider questions which have arisen from recent elections in the United Kingdom and the United States. The Hansard Society, Brookings Institution & American Enterprise Institute are bringing together key experts to examine the nature and results of recent elections in the UK and the US and debate the lessons that practitioners in each country can learn from the other. Information available at: http://www.hansardsociety.org.uk/conference_2006 .
