EPRI News Advance notice: 8th EPRI Conference After the successful 7th EPRI
conference upon the Invitation of the
Swedish Riksdag, the 8th EPRI conference will be hosted by the Senate
of the Czech Republic. The unique scenery of Prague is the setting for
the conference “At the cross point of eGovernment & eDemocracy: How
ICT in the parliamentarian environment is setting standards in
participation and usage”. It will take place on 15-16 March 2006 in the
historic rooms of the Senate. Don’t miss the opportunity to
register for the conference at www.senat.cz/epri2006, which will be
available in the middle of January.
The conference is organised and hosted by the Czech Senate with support
from the EPRI secretariat. The EPRI website www.epri.org will keep you
informed about the conference organisation including Agenda,
registration procedure etc.

EPRI knowledge base At http://www.epri.org/epriweb/contents/knowledge_base.php the newly developed EPRI knowledge base will inform members of the EPRI community on ICT and its implementation and use in a democratic and parliamentary workflow. The EPRI knowledge base combines individual with organisational knowledge in the field of Parliamentarians and Information Communication Technology. The new tool allows displaying knowledge not only as a conventional sequel of information but it uses a new associative and holistic approach of giving information and putting it into its context. Members of the EPRI community are invited to participate in the textual enlargement of the knowledge base by contributing with their individual knowledge and experiences. So please take a look at the EPRI knowledge base and contribute to its further development. In case of any suggestions or contributions please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Sandra Himmel (Sandra.Himmel@tsa.de or phone +49 39203 8 2552) IST News Results of the Ministerial eGovernment Conference 2005 The Ministerial eGovernment Conference has resulted in a strong impetus to bring forward the European eGovernment agenda towards 2010. The Ministerial eGovernment Conference took place on 24-25 November in Manchester and was co–organised by the UK Presidency and the European Commission. The Conference facilitated discussion on the ambitious goals for eGovernment in the context of the European Commission’s i2010 Initiative. Also representatives of the EPRI Community participated in this event and took the opportunity to formulate a position paper and thus to influence the eGovernment agenda. Trust in the Net The seminar will bring together high-level actors from industry, research, governments, public administrations and user organisations to discuss longer-term research actions to fight malware and spam and thus to improve trust in the Internet for business and citizens. eGovernment for all Europeans The conference will explore key issues relating to the development and deployment of sustainable and user-centred pan-European eServices. The main goal of the event is to gain commitment to a set of joint actions around the issues of eGovernment today: far from being purely technical, many of the open issues concern important legal, political and organisational factors that need to be addressed urgently if eGovernment Services are to become fully enabled. Experts from the fields of politics, regulation, campaigning, communications, public opinion and the media will discuss some of the wider questions which have arisen from recent elections in the United Kingdom and the United States. The Hansard Society, Brookings Institution & American Enterprise Institute are bringing together key experts to examine the nature and results of recent elections in the UK and the US and debate the lessons that practitioners in each country can learn from the other.
