9th EPRI Conference – Advanced notice, March 19th – 20th, 2007, Lisbon After the successful 8th EPRI conference upon the Invitation of the Czech Senate, the 9th EPRI conference will be hosted by the Portuguese Parliament. The unique scenery of Lisbon is the setting for the conference which will take place on 19-20 March 2007 in the historic senate chamber of the Parliament. According to their tradition, the 2007 EPRI conference will concentrate on Information Communication Technologies and their role in the democratic decision making process. In preparation to the Portuguese Presidency from July till December 2007 the 9th EPRI conference will continue to contribute to the facilitation of the exchange of MPs on ICT- related topics. The three main themes of the conference will be:

Perception of parliamentary web- based contents by the 21st century citizens;

The use of web services and technologies by MP’s to get closer to the constituency;
-
The use of web services and technologies to rouse up the interest of the 21st century citizens in politics.
The 9th EPRI conference is organised and hosted by the Portuguese Parliament with support from the EPRI secretariat.
Within the next months the EPRI website www.epri.org will keep you informed about the conference organisation including Agenda, registration procedure etc.

IST 2006 – Strategies for Leadership The IST 2006 conference, which took place November 21st- 23rd, 2006 in Helsinki, is the main networking event and showcase covering research and development in information society technologies. IST 2006 was organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the Finnish Presidency of the European Union. FP7 & Information and Communication Technologies The objective of ICT research under the EU’s FP7 is to improve the competitiveness of European industry – as well as to enable Europe to master and shape the future developments of these technologies so that the demands of its society and economy are met. The EU Member States have earmarked a total of € 9.1 billion for funding ICT over the duration of FP7. 3rd BBEurope Conference The concept of ‘Broadband For All’ refers to a situation in which broadband is not only available to every citizen, but is actually used by all of them. In order to create this kind of broad leverage the IST project BREAD has held annual conferences bringing together, on an international level, all the broadband players, researchers, service providers, content providers, operators, manufacturers, policy makers, standardisation bodies and professional organisations. This years conference will address areas such as advanced media, e-health, transport and logistics, e-government, video transport and VoIP. Further information available at http://www.bbeurope.org/
Workshop: Mobility in Elected Assemblies The objective of this workshop is to get a mutual understanding of the mobility aspects in the light of the overload of information, locality and time pressure. The workshop will highlight some of the technical developments and organisational subjects concerning the research objectives. Assemblies are invited to participate in this workshop to elaborate on the current state of the art of mobility in assemblies and share ideas concerning security, remote document management, remote voting, etc. Further information available at: http://www.erepresentative.org/page/nl/item_dos
